Pet urine is the one problem in this trade where the surface tells you almost nothing. What you can see is a patch on the pile. What is causing the smell is usually below it, soaked into the backing and often into the underlay and the floor beneath.
That matters because it decides whether the smell can be fixed. A fresh accident treated properly clears completely. One that has been going into the same corner for months has reached the underlay, and no cleaning of the carpet above will end it, because the source is not the carpet.
So we find out how deep it goes before promising anything. If it has reached the underlay we tell you that the underlay is the fix, which is a repair job rather than a clean. We would rather lose the booking than take your money for a smell that comes back in a fortnight.

If it is recent and confined to the carpet, usually yes. If it has soaked into the underlay it will keep coming back no matter how well the carpet is cleaned, and the honest answer then is that the underlay needs replacing. We check before promising.
